Intergrity
Today I want to talk about integrity.
In this business, we’re so focused on commission, GCI, and sales volume. We get rewarded and praised for how much money we make. And in an environment like that, integrity can get lost.
But character is the most important thing we have. Not just because of our reputation, but because strong ethical character leads to a better life. Period.
Integrity is doing what you said you’d do, especially when it costs you.
Honor isn’t how you act when things are easy; it’s how you act when the stakes are high.
It’s keeping your word even when circumstances change.
It’s not rewriting history when the numbers get bigger.
I’ve learned the hard way that when someone shows you who they are, you should believe them.
If you’re a leader, understand this: leaders set the moral ceiling for their organizations. And if you can’t keep your word, you will lose good and great people. That loss will cost you far more in the long run than whatever quick cash you thought you were saving.
Your word is either worth something… or it isn’t.
Because eventually, your best people will say, “I won’t build my future with someone whose values force me to protect myself from them.”
Integrity, character, ethics, these aren’t things you can compromise on. We should constantly be searching our hearts and asking:
Are we doing the right thing?
Are we surrounded by the right people?
There’s no middle ground here. Because if you compromise on this, you will eventually lose.
As Ice Cube said, check yourself before you wreck yourself.
Let’s listen to Ice Cube, constantly checking, constantly refining our character, making the world a better place.
